In a recent address to ADC party members in Aniocha North, Hon. Gbandi, the former senatorial candidate for Delta North, urged his fellow party faithful to recognize the shifting political landscape in Delta State. With the forthcoming local government election on the horizon, he emphasized that the ruling party’s artificial dominance at the LGAs is not guaranteed as it has been in the past.

Hon. Gbandi highlighted the growing demand for financial and administrative autonomy for local councils across Nigeria, a sentiment echoed by many stakeholders in the political arena. He sees this push for autonomy as a catalyst for change, providing an opportunity for opposition parties like ADC to make significant strides in the upcoming election.

Reflecting on ADC’s past performance in Aniocha North during the general elections, despite challenges with the electoral process, Hon. Gbandi expressed confidence in the party’s ability to compete effectively. He sees the upcoming LGA election as a crucial test for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to transparent governance, urging for elections that truly reflect the will of the people.

Furthermore, Hon. Gbandi called for a reformation of the electoral process, emphasizing the need for fairness, transparency, and inclusivity. He believes that this election presents a unique chance for electoral management bodies to restore their credibility and demonstrate their independence.

In closing, Hon. Gbandi emphasized the importance of diverse political representation at the grassroots level in fostering unity, development, and progress in Delta State and beyond. He called on all stakeholders to work together towards achieving a truly representative government that serves the interests of the people.
