His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu, The Kutimehin Adetutu 1, Onirete of Irete Ijebu is nominated to receive Global Icon of Ijebu Heritage & Culture Award in Germany. This was made known to Heritage Media Global office in Hamburg Germany today the 20th of July 2023.
According to the statement issued by the organizers, that reads in part:
The Award committee is delighted, for the historic presentation of staff of office to you, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Awokoya Yesufu and the peaceful coronation, the first time that Anowoneyo Ruling Family is having a crowned Oba in her ancestral base (Irete) like the other three Royal Families in her cadre in the Dagburewe Dynasty in Idowa, which has been in existence since (1540) AD when it was founded by Owa Otutubiosun the first Dagburewe of Idowa and 13th Awujale of Ijebu Land.
The information before the Award committee and the peaceful coronation is a great endeavour in the preservation of this century long African tradition and heritage, and a great pride to the Global African community. This reenforces the role of our traditional institutions in the transformation of modern African society, promote peaceful co-existence and preserve the cultural heritage of Yoruba people, Nigeria, and black race.
The organizers are convinced that the peaceful coronation, and the informative history about the Anowoneyo Ruling Family and the Dagburewe Dynasty in Idowa are in tandem with the United Nations Resolution A/RES/69/16 to promote the recognition, justice, and development of people of African descent worldwide.
The African Diaspora Living Legend Award Committee have therefore the privilege and pleasure to nominate you as a recipient of the 2023 Award as Global Icon of Ijebu /Yoruba Heritage & Culture.
