The mayor of the city of Heubach, Germany, Dr. Alemazung is confirmed to deliver a keynote address during the African Living Legend Award 2023. The Award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 5th of August 2023 at NH Airport Hotel West Frankfurt Germany.
This is according to the organizers, in a press statement, today 23rd June 2023 in Hamburg, Germany. The main goals of the event tagged the Night of the African Living Legends is to illuminate the potentials and positive achievement as well as the contribution of People of African Descent to humanity. These role models (the Living Legends) should serve as a positive example and motivation as well as mentors for subsequent generations of people of African Descent irrespective of societal challenges.
The organizers expressed excitement over the confirmation of Dr Alemazung, Mayor of the city of Heubach, because the African Diaspora Living Legend Awards was instituted under his inspiration in 2016 by AGIC when the mayor was the Project manager for the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria at Engagement Global gGmbH, an institution under the federal ministry of economic cooperation and development in Germany in charge of civic and political education in German federal states.
The mayor was also the former Managing Editor of the Global Applied Sociology Journal, a Fellow and former chairman of the African Good Governance Network at DAAD, and a reviewer for the African Journal of Political Science and International Relations. In addition, he was an associate lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences, School of International Business in Bremen, Germany.
It was not surprising that His Excellency Dr Joy Alemazung saw the need then for a detailed research to identify notable and outstanding sons and daughters of Africa whose work impact positively on German Society and Africa and its people as well as outstanding individuals and corporate entities of non-African descent whose Awards will serve as role models, so that the younger generation of Africans, resident both in Europe and Africa, may learn and emulate their ideals as achievers and leaders in their chosen fields of activity. The Award is indeed a recognition of their contribution to the wellbeing of the society and humanity in general. The Award was conceived to cover four broad categories including Political and Civic Education, Entrepreneurship, Politics, Humanities, Culture, Music, and Entertainment.
Since 2016, the African Diaspora Living Legend Awards has been almost an annual event organized by African German Information Center and partners as part of the Africa Day celebration in promotion of the ideals and objectives of the UN International Decade for People of African Descent.
For the mayor and the Award organizers, it is indeed a home coming event.
