Apostle Patrick A.Nwanze, convener of the South-South and Southeast Culture Heritage Tourism and Business Summit, has commended the Asagba of Asaba for his wise decision to preserve the cultural heritage of his community.

The Importance of Preserving Cultural Heritage

Wise leadership is a blessing to any community, and the preservation of cultural heritage, land, and community is the primary responsibility of traditional leaders. The Asagba’s decision sets a positive precedent for other traditional rulers to follow, ensuring the preservation of cultural identity and inheritance for future generations.

Consequences of Outright Sales of Community Land

The consequences of selling community land to non-indigenes are severe:

  • Loss of Cultural Heritage: erosion of traditional practices, destruction of ancestral sites
  • Socio-Economic Consequences: displacement of community members, loss of livelihoods, increased poverty
  • Environmental Consequences: loss of biodiversity, environmental degradation
  • Political and Social Consequences: loss of autonomy, conflict, tension, undermining of community cohesion

A Call to Action

Apostle Patrick A.Nwanze calls on community members to support the Asagba’s decision and work towards a future where their children can proudly call Anioma nation their home. Let us prioritize the preservation of our cultural heritage and community lands to ensure a brighter future for generations to come.
