In a powerful stride towards enhancing its grassroots engagement and nurturing a people-centered political vision, the Delta State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has proudly welcomed the state chapter of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) into its family. This momentous occasion follows the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the ADC at the national level with three influential pressure groups: COPDEM, the Justice Group, and the Farmers Club of Africa. This agreement signifies a strategic leap towards a potential merger dedicated to building a robust political movement that champions youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

During the welcoming ceremony, ADC Delta State Chairman, Engr. Austine Okolie, radiated enthusiasm and reassured COPDEM members that they have found a political home within the party. He inspired them to actively join in the mission to transform Delta State’s political landscape for the greater good. His message echoed ADC’s vision as a grassroots-driven party, committed to inclusivity and governance that prioritizes the people’s needs.

Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, ADC’s Deputy National Chairman (Diaspora) and the distinguished guest at the event, reaffirmed the stance of the National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu. He underscored that the MoU sets ADC apart from other political parties by cementing its dedication to grassroots mobilization and a political ideology focused on placing the people first. Hon. Gbandi also reflected on ADC’s impact in the last general elections, emphasizing that the party is on the verge of reaching its full potential. He warmly welcomed COPDEM at a pivotal moment when ADC prepares for upcoming congresses leading to the national convention.

The event brought together key ADC Delta State leaders, including Engr. Austin Okolie (State Chairman), Chief Ebi.N. Yebu (Secretary), Sir Engr. Obus.O. Doghor (VC Delta Central), Mrs. Ejidoh Chinwe (VC Delta North), Azuka Emmanuel (Chairman Aniocha North), Okwuokie Frank (Chairman Aniocha South), Pst. Lawrence Okeke (COPDEM National Officer), and Sir Benyeogor U.J. (COPDEM State Officer). Others included Adione Joseph (VP Youth South South), Mrs. Mena Joy (State Women Leader), Prince Dr. Ikechukwu Nnailous Diji (Member), and Hon. Comr. Ileleji Ogheneruemu (Chairman Ughelli South) and Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, ADC’s Deputy National Chairman (Diaspora. Each one took a moment to welcome COPDEM members, assuring them of a smooth and swift integration into the party. This merger is poised to amplify ADC’s presence in Delta State and beyond, reinforcing its vision of a truly democratic and inclusive platform for all Nigerians.
