Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, Delta North Senatorial Candidate (2023) and Deputy Chairman of the ADC, has hailed the recent Rivers State High Court ruling as a historic judgment for Nigerian democracy. The court’s interlocutory injunction has prevented 25 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from parading themselves as members of the House. Hon. Gbandi sees this as a triumph for democratic principles.
“This judgment is a victory for democracy in Nigeria and a warning to those political wolves in sheep’s clothing who contest elections under one party’s banner only to defect to another after securing the people’s mandate,” Hon. Gbandi stated. “All politicians who have defected to other parties after the 2023 elections should prepare for similar vacation orders.”
In light of this development, the DIASPORA CONVERGENCE 2024 will focus on establishing a legal fund aimed at challenging and preventing the abuse of the people’s mandate by political opportunists.
