Andrew Uwe Nigeria ex-international, former captain of the Nigeria team to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in USSR in 1985 and Head coach of the Vandrezzer FC Academy, former coach of the German sixth tier club side, BV Essen, former Head coach of Vandrezzer FC Academy and currently a German Elite License and UEFA B License is backing Diaspora Football Outreach which organizes Street football challenge sports tournaments.
Diaspora Football Outreach is part of Diaspora knowledge transfer in sports and strategically bringing together teams from different neighborhoods or villages for friendly competition, team building, and promoting healthy lifestyles. In addition to celebrating sporting achievements.
In 2022, Diaspora Sports & Medical outreach was instituted under the initiative of Hon. (Dr) Kenneth Gbandi, the co-founder and Ex-Sports Director NCG FC Hamburg and also the longest-serving European Continental Chairman and Board of Trustee of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Europe (NIDOE), NIDO, historically the largest African Diaspora professional network in the world, backed by an act of parliament in Nigeria and Mr. Henry Ambrose Ojiodu, a Nigerian-Born German based Football Manage and UEFA Licensed Coach.
Since then, Diaspora Inter-community Tournaments and Cup-Winners Challenge Cup has been an annual event during the Easter and Christmas period respectively, bringing the respective winners of inter-community tournaments for the Cup-Winners Challenge Cup (Champions Cup).
The Tournament is also utilized to promote peace and reconciliation in conflict-affected areas leveraging the spirit of the seasons, that is most treasured seasons in Nigeria and Nigerians in the Diaspora, when many Nigerians travel back to their various communities to celebrate with their loved ones. Organizing friendly matches, sports diplomacy initiatives, and inter-community tournaments brings people and old friends from different backgrounds together, fostering dialogue, peace, and understanding.
The event is also a Talent scouting opportunity.
